I think this is EXCELLENT advice for anyone who is trying to sell their home either through a real estate agency or FSBO. We have passed up many lovely homes that suited both our square footage needs and our budget, however, the houses reeked of Glade Plug-Ins, scented candles and other chemical fragrance odors. We have literally had to walk out of homes before we can preview the entire house because we were so overcome by fragrances.

The savvy, health conscious home buyer has added chemical fragrances to their list of what they don’t want to smell when they are looking to buy a home. These chemical fragrances are now listed right next to mold, cigarette smoke odor and animal urine by many home buyers.
Home buyers today are more educated than ever. Even inexperienced first time home buyers understand that chemical fragrances do not clean the air, they contaminate it with toxic chemicals and more often than not these chemical fragrances make people very sick.
Home buyers have kids with asthma and allergies. An old wooden house that has alot of beautiful exterior ornate woodwork that is totally rotted and falling off BEYOND repairing or restoring (Leaving your only option to have some specialist come in that gives you a quote of about $320,000 just to do the FRONT of the house).
Anything where you pull up to it and it looks really nice, then you step inside to find that it has totally been gutted by fire (brick buildings.....).
Anything that was temporarily converted to some type of animal shelter or zoo by the previous tenants or owners.
Anything where all of the walls, hardwood floors and wood work have been totally scratched, clawed at and/or chewed BEYOND recognition and repair by some type of clawed animal.
Anything where you need a mask or resporator to enter it because of mold or asbestos.
Any house or building that appears to be leaning over, sunken in the ground, or sagging that was just recently completely redone in white vinyl siding.
Come to think of it, any house that was just redone in white vinyl siding.
